Via Baradères Traveling the mountain road to Baradères from the closest hospital, Bonne Fin Hôpital Lumière in rural Haiti makes an impression--a visceral, jarring impression. A simulated "Star Wars" flight pales in comparison to the bouncing and chaotic left-right pendulum steering of the experienced driver as he pilots us around the crevices, boulders and irregular rocks that might fracture our rugged Toyota 4-Runner. The 7.2 miles takes 1.25 hours, an average of 5.8 mph. |
