visit Students in every one of the nine classrooms we visitedkindergarten through sixth gradesang us a song of welcome, but many children looked hungry. Catholic Relief Services is scheduled to make weekly food deliveries. The week we visited, there was no deliveryand no noontime meal. Shortly after our visit, the sister-parish project applied for and received a $15,000 grant to create a supplemental feeding program. The money is targeted to buy fish and other high-protein foods from local producersnot food from a store outside the community. |
