January 2001
visit Nearing completion during our January visit is this cinder-block school building. It is dual purpose: Rain gutters on the back of the roof drain into a brand-new cistern (at right) built through the sister-parish project with support from a charitable foundation. The cistern was completed January 26. Until now, Grand Anse villagers got all their "fresh" water from buckets after rainstorms or from polluted potholes on the stony ground. |
